Just as there is one gay victory on one side of the pond, over here things are quite different. You may remember in August last year I mentioned the brutal and homophobic murder of 18 year old young gay man, Michael Causer in Liverpool. The trial has been happening over the last few weeks and has focused on the 3 young men accused of playing a part in Michael's murder. James O'Connor has admitted to murdering Causer and will be sentenced later this month. However, on friday, Gavin Alker (18) was found not guilty of murder or manslaughter. Witnesses stated that they saw Alker punching and kicking Causer in the head, Causer was then attacked further and left for dead in the street. He died several days later after failed attempts to reduce swelling on his brain.

I am not a legal expert but how a jury can manage to find someone not guilty after testimonies were heard saying that the accused was seen kicking Causer in the head is beyond me.

Alker is now walking the streets of Liverpool a free man, Causer's family and friends organised a protest yesterday against the ridiculous verdict and continue to fight for justice

It's one of my favourite days of the year! yes it's time for all the post Oscar Awards fun! As per usualy I totally missed the actual awards due to nazi style broadcasting, I miss the good old days where the show would be on BBC1 til the early hours and you didn't have to pay to specifically watch it. The great thing though is watching all the best bits on the internet without having to endure the "Best Short Animated Film" etc.

Before I start talking about all that silly acting/film business, I shall get my priorities right and talk about the real issues, the dresses!!!!!!! Ok so who was hot and who was not last night - There were some stunning frocks on show and some hideous mistakes, so let's begin with the classic, never puts a foot wrong, She finally won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in "The Reader" - the sublime Kate Winslet!

A surprise actress who nailed it in my opinion, mainly because I loves me a good train! Marisa Tomei looked stunning

Meryl Streep is always a bit hit and miss at these things, she either looks flawless or like she was getting dressed whilst making the kids lunch, making sure they had all done their homework and ending up leaving the house with her blouse on backwards and toast in her hair but thankfully the fashion gods gobbed a huge spit of style on her and she looked amazing, here with her co-stars from doubt, although her co star Viola Davis' dress does remind me of something Whoopi Goldbergs character would have worn in Sister Act and I aint talking about a bad habit!

Speaking of Whoopi - jesus suffering fuck! that is all I can say, it is like Scary Spice actually ate a leopard and vomitted all over her, maybe not just the one leopard, had to steal this image from Perez Hilton, no one else seems brave enough to show it

Other stunners on the night included the always fabulous Sarah Jessica Parker, just perfection

Penelope Cruz always delivers and nailed it with this, but she is so stunning she could probably even make crocs work

Now Beyonce what have I told you, stop stop stop getting that colorblind mother of yours to make your oufits, you look like a pair of curtains at Neverland girl!

The award for wasting potential with a safeblack dress goes to "faceache, I don't want to be here" Angelina Jolie, honey you are truly sensationally good looking but you can't just rely on Brad Pitt to make your outfit pop and at least smile with your eyes!

That's enough of the fashion, the awards were hosted by one of the hottest men around, the great Hugh Jackman who has that rare quality of being drop dead gorgeous, totally charming and immensely talented. Apparently he did a great job but I can't say I have seen enough of the show yet to judge, but boy he looks good in a suit!

The speeches were all good, Winslet didn't shame herself but actually said what I think anyone would say in that situation. Sean Penn used his win for Best Actor in the Harvey Milk biopic "Milk" to highlight some very important issues

"Thank you. Thank you. You commie, homo-loving sons-of-guns. I did not expect this, but I, and I want it to be very clear, that I do know how hard I make it to appreciate me often. But I am touched by the appreciation and I hoped for it enough that I did want to scribble down, so I had the names in case you were commie, homo-loving sons-of-guns, and so I want to thank my best friend, Sata Matsuzawa. My circle of long-time support, Mara, Brian, Barry and Bob. The great Cleve Jones. Our wonderful writer, Lance Black. Producers Bruce Cohen and Dan Jinks.
And particularly, as all, as actors know, our director either has the patience, talent and restraint to grant us a voice or they don't, and it goes from the beginning of the meeting, through the cutting room. And there is no finer hands to be in than Gus Van Sant. And finally, for those, two last finallies, for those who saw the signs of hatred as our cars drove in tonight, I think that it is a good time for those who voted for the ban against gay marriage to sit and reflect and anticipate their great shame and the shame in their grandchildren's eyes if they continue that way of support.

We've got to have equal rights for everyone. And there are, and there are, these last two things. I'm very, very proud to live in a country that is willing to elect an elegant man president and a country who, for all its toughness, creates courageous artists. And this is in great due respect to all the nominees, but courageous artists, who despite a sensitivity that sometimes has brought enormous challenge, Mickey Rourke rises again and he is my brother. Thank you all very much"
No Thankyou Sean for playing Harvey Milk with such respect and dignity and for speaking out when it isn't always cool to do so.

Another great speech on the night which brought a tear to my eye was the heartfelt speech of Dustin Lance Black who won the screenplay award for "Milk" saying
"I heard the story of Harvey Milk and it gave me hope. It gave me the hope to live my life openly as who I am, and that one day I could even fall in love and get married.

"I want to thank my mom, who has always loved me for who I am even when there was pressure not to.

"But most of all, if Harvey had not been taken from us 30 years ago, I think he would want me to say to all of the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told that they are less than by their churches or by the government or by their families, that you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value, and that no matter what anyone tells you God does love you and that very soon I promise you, you will have equal rights federally across this great nation of ours.
"Thank you and thank you God for giving us Harvey Milk

I have yet to see Slumdog Millionaire but may try and catch it next weekend, I shall reserve judgement til then.

It really is the pick of the pops!

A coalition of lesbian, gay and bisexual rights groups in Italy plan to protest at a major music event in Italy tomorrow after the inclusion of a song about a gay man "turning" straight.

Controversial performer Povia has penned the song Luca Was Gay and is competing for the accolade of best song at the Sanremo music festival.

36 year old singer Povia from Milan has angered gay rights groups because his song implies that gays can turn straight, the lyrics -

"Luca once was gay but he's with her today. When Luca talks, he holds his heart in his hand. Luca says: Today I am a different man.

"Today I'm a different man, but back then I needed answers. I was so ashamed, so I did my looking in secret. There were people who told me, "It's natural," but I studied Freud and I knew he didn't see it that way.

"I got through high school, still not knowing what happiness was. An older man made my heart race and that's when I realised I was homosexual.

"With him, I didn't hold back. He gave me lots of attention, and I thought it was love. Sure, I could be myself, but then the sex became a competition.

"I felt like I was the guilty one. I figured they'd catch him sooner or later, but I could make the truth disappear so he wouldn't get in trouble.

"I was looking for my father in all those men. I went with them so as not to betray my mother."

Everybody dance now!! whoop whoop, catchy lyrics, nothing like a good tune to set my toes a tappin!

oh who cares if he did turn straight, who cares if the writer or singer of the song turned straight, honey!! with talent like that - the gays don't want you anyway! now where did i put that closet door key?

Brit Awards? Shit Awards more like!

I didn't manage to catch the awards live but watched them online straight after and it really was pretty bad! Let's start at the beginning - I love U2 and have done for a very long time but there new single is a bit too easy for me, it does not sound like a lot of effort went into it and they have been away for years so let's hope that the album proves me wrong.

Other performances included Girls Aloud (the only bit of glam for the evening) - although pisshead Sarah Harding let the side down with her drunken rant after the group won Best British Single, the other girls looked tres embarassed. There was of course the collaboration between the Ting Tings and Estelle, Am I the only one who thought someone backstage had pressed play on the Ting Tings song and then pressed play on Estelle's song in the hope that they would sound good together? Estelle also looked like a bad drag queen after 4 hours on stage at the 2 Brewers!

There were certain points in the evening where I got a bit gayly excited - The Kings Of Leon are simply stunning and blatantly did the best performance of the night, also despite apparently miming Take That looked as good as ever. Coldplay need to change those outfits and get them washed - Do think they were robbed for Best Album and Group though!

Now Pet Shop Boys - I had so much hope for you but it was pretty dull, Lady Gagging appearing for half a second and Brandon Flowers from the Killers?? (he also looked pretty beautiful though) where was the glamour? the near naked men? the homoerotic overload??

Iron Maiden - Best Live Act?? I did not know they were even alive let alone live!

James Corden, Matt Horne and Kylie were slightly painful it has to be said but they had their moments, Katy Perry winning Best International Female was a bit of a joke right? they were not serious. She is if you pardon my french - a talentless overly made up minge teasing fuckhead.

Anyway that's it for another year and I for one am slightly relieved, Also last night I watched the first episode in the new series of "Mistresses" - I totally missed the last series but found it quite easy to catch up and I can just tell that I am going to be totally addicted - too many good looking men and fiesty women in one show! Love Sarah Parish!!

Good news - Rev.Fred Phelps and Shirley Phelps from the Westboro Baptist Chruch have been excluded from entering the UK by Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.
"Both these individuals have engaged in unacceptable behaviour by inciting hatred against a number of communities," a UK Border Agency spokesman told The Sun.
"The government has made it clear it opposes extremism in all its forms.
"The exclusions policy is targeted at all those who seek to stir up tension and provoke others to violence regardless of their origins and beliefs."
The "Church" responded in its usual throwaway and light hearted fashion -
"You British Bastards will not have Jesus Christ to rule over you, and think you can issue bans and pass laws to remove God’s word from the landscape.
"You do greatly err, not knowing the power of God; and, you do that against your own interests. It is a great kindness to have God’s prophets in your land.
"But, you ungrateful brutes despise knowledge. It is too late for the UK. God Hates You! God’s wrath and destruction is all that’s left for you, thanks to Secretary Smith."
They also referred to Queen Elizabeth II as a "whore" - now I am not sure where they are getting there information from but I think she has been married for over 60 years and is 82 years old, not exactly pole dancing is she.
In other gay related goings on - Hip Hop star Kanye "mad as a box of hair" West has been speaking out about the gays, saying that he is trying to turn the word "gay" round from a negative to a positive, saying that in the future when he refers to anything as gay, it is a compliment, as gays are all stylish and at the core of groundbreaking art and design - I am thinking Kanye has not experienced some of the more rural gay bars in England, although his recent foray into a Mullet hairstyle stinks of the Sheffield scene queens. Kanye is also quoted as saying
"But in the past two, three years, all the gay people I've encountered have been, like, really, really, extremely dope."
Well indeed Kanye you are right, I am particularly dope! sometimes I go to the extreme of dope that I can barely get back from dope, people yell at me in the street "girl you is well dope" I just snap my fingers and flash my woohoo at such catcalls - so yes dope I am, dope is me.
That's all for today, don't forget to be dope, it's all we have left

Morning,

Remember your childhood?? Days of innocence and playing in the streets, going over to your mate's house for hours and hours without achieving anything useful. Happy times some might say but after the reports this morning that the average age for children being given their first mobile phone being 8 years old, I do start to worry about parents and their priorities. Why does a kid need a mobile phone at such a young age? Many parents would probably suggest it's for their child's safety but really it actually puts them in a more vulnerable position of being robbed or mugged simply for their phone. Really a child as young as 8 should be under adult supervision and if not why not?

I know it's easy for me to say - the gay guy with no kids but I have friends with kids and thankfully they are all excellent parents but I do worry about parents that simply think they can send their kid out on their own with a mobile and they will be safe. Are we not just forcing kids to bow down into peer pressure? I cannot think of a single reason why I would ever have needed a phone when I was 8 and I know the world is changing but sometimes those changes are unnecessary and worrying.

Well they are definitely doing another Sex and the City movie, The pippyrants jury is out on this one, I did love the last film but it all ended very nicely and I fail to see how they can develop the story further. Also the first film was pretty dark and although there were some funny moments it did feel a bit of a rollercoaster ride. However, Sarah Jessica Parker has said today that " The last one, we got to tell a really mature, sophisticated story that had real heartbreak in it, and this time, I think we want a romp. We want our audience to have a massive romp." - Yay, clap Yay!! that's is exactly what I want a romp, I want Samantha Jones to fuck anything that moves, Charlotte to cry and look perfect a lot, Miranda to be totally sarcastic and Carrie to just be fabulous - shallow? moi? yep - I could drown in a puddle!

Well tonight is the 2009 Brit Awards and it is being hosted by James Corden, Mathew Horne and Kylie Minogue, this is all a bit too random for me, I have a feeling that Horne and Corden might be quite funny but after seeing Kylie live on a number of occasions I can say that she isn't that great at actually talking, don’t get me wrong, I loves me some Kylie but if you go and see on of her live shows her chatty bits to the audience all seem a bit forced and she usually just gives up, shouts "woooo" and gets everyone to do a mexican wave. Well tonight that simply wont cut it, it is also being broadcast live so has the potential to be a big mess (and that's just Adele in a dress! - thanks to peter for that line). My predictions are

Best British Male - Paul Weller

Best British Female - Duffy

Best Breakthrough Act - The Ting Tings

Best British Group - Coldplay

Best British Live Act - Coldplay

Best British Single - Leona Lewis - Better in Time

Best British Album - Coldplay - Viva la Vida

Best International Album - Kings of Leon - Only by the Night

Best International Male Artist - Kanye West

Best International Female Artist - Beyonce

Best International Group - Kings of Leon

Lets see tomorrow whether I have a high ratio of winners!

Well Valentines day is over for another year so I can come out from under the duvet now. No seriously! I spent valentines day in bed (by myself) due to an excessive night of drinking on friday, I am getting too old for all this, it really knocked me for six and I could barely walk! Stupid tequila!! I did however manage to kiss a boy and I did like it but I don't think much is going to come from that really but it was good all the same.

Sunday I met up with Oliver, his cousin Sam and her girlfriend for way too much alcohol again - this meant that work yesterday was a disaster and I was running training all day, I thought it was the worst I had ever delivered but the evaluations were all good - as Madonna says in "In bed with Madonna" - "even when I feel like shit, they still love me" - Oh Madge I know how ya feel girl.

I bought my usual tabloid and broadsheet on sunday and have to admit to having a few tears in my eyes reading the interview with Jade Goody, I have often slagged her off in this blog but now she has been told she has only a couple of months to live - it really is devastating, bless her her heart has always been in the right place and her poor sons!! she is only 27 years old - it really is tragically heartbreaking.

Now why can't I get the same annual leave deal as Amy Winehouse? Ya know how just before Xmas she fled the media and went on holiday to St Lucia…she is still there!!! She was admitted to hospital last week due to complications with her drug replacement treatment and now her media whore of a father has flown out to (get a free holiday) check she is ok.

That twatty bunch of extremist freaks aka The Westboro Baptist Chruch may be bringing their foul stench of views to the UK this week to protest outside a theatre in Basingstoke. A performance of the play "The Laramie Project" about the homophobic murder gay teen Matthew Shepherd. It is not clear what their presence will be at the performance but thankfully we are slightly more forward thinking in this country and a counter protest has already been arranged and there will be a large police presence at the theatre.

Now this is a bit sad but I stumbled across this clip on youtube and it just made me laugh quite a huge amount, its from that rather shit daytime TV shopw "Loose Women" and is basically a clip where the women discuss whether all men are messy but the conversation becomes laden with innuendo, never has the word "tissues" made me laugh so much, dont judge me and immerse yourselves in sillyness!

The world is crazy and I am the sane one!

Well I am back again after another hectic work week, all was good in the countryside and I have comeback feeling rather refreshed and pleased with myself. On my long train journey back last night I got a bit bored of my book and slipped into the delightful world of the Metro Newspaper, I found myself shaking my head in disbelief at one story. It involves a rather well established travel company and another example of just how thick people can be. A woman called Samantha Lazzaris fancied a holiday in Costa Rica in Central America but due to a mishap at the travel agents she was accidentally booked onto a flight to the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. Now obviously this was a mistake and the travel company have taken full responsibility for it all. However, I really don't think they should have because Ms Lazzaris somehow managed to book her travel insurance, pack her bags, go to the airport, check in, keep track of the departure gate and time of flight, board the plane, hear the announcements on the plane, land in Puerto Rico, go through passport control, collect her baggage, go through the airport and get into a taxi and it was only when the taxi driver laughed at her and I quote

"I looked aroud the airport, saw posters of Puerto Rico everywhere and thought - what am I going to do?"

what are you going to do Ms Lazzaris? I suggest getting a fuckin clue would be a start you frikkin muppet, How oh How could you have gone through all those systems and not noticed that everything was telling you that you were going to Puerto Rico? What I think the travel agents should have done is written to her afterwards and suggest that maybe next time she should travel with a companion/carer and provided said companion or carer with an "I'm with stupid" T shirt! whats really annoying is that someone that stupid can afford such a holiday in the first place - who is paying apart from animal research?

Good lord, London life is all good but I really am getting sick of the never ending army of stupid, thick people that appear to have been put in this city to block me from getting from A to B. Why does everyone assume there are no seats upstairs on a bus and totally squeeze into the downstairs? Why do people walk all the way along a tube carriage for no apparent reason, stop it you make me nervous and I don't like it and I know I have said it before but why are there so many human crabs on London's pavements?? human beings walk forwards not sideways, stop slamming me into shop windows and the road!

rant over.

Now what is all this about R'n'B singer Chris Brown's fight with his girlfriend, singer Rihanna? It appears that the couple had a fight on their way back from a pre grammy awards party the other night and the rumours are that Brown battered Rihanna pretty severely, she has been in hospital and the rumours are she may need plastic surgery, this news has already led to Brown being dropped from several major sponsorship deals and Rihanna cancelling concerts this week. As some of you may know if you have been reading my blog for a while I have been involved in a violent relationship in the past and I am relieved that this story is being taken so seriously by the world's media. There is NO excuse for violence in any relationship, As Oprah would say "Love does not slap you upside yo head" and it's true, Love has many ways of showing itself and I for one am ready to see some of those ways, but when I was in that particular relationship I truly believed that my boyfriend loved me but in actual fact all he loved was the power and control he had over me and it really is as simple as that. It's taken me a hell of a long time to look at it that way, blaming myself always seemed such an easier option but that’s the way it is. Just get out of it while you can honey because that shit won't change it's stink.

Finally Happy Birthday to my girl Kaz!! have a lesbolicious time!!

Rediscovering the indie pippy

Truth be told I have always been an indie boy at heart and although I do like Madonna and the occasional bit of diva action, it's the floppy haired lead singers and big armed drummers that get me going. I guess it all started with a more mainstream band by the name of U2, it was November 1991 and I was the tender age of 15 when I heard the first single from U2's new album "Achtung baby" the song was called "The Fly" and the wall of guitar sound seduced me into a whole new world. That particular album remains one of my all time favourites.

The rest is history and last night I delved into that history by finding a bag of old tapes! who the hell has tapes these days eh? amongst them were many of the usual ones you would expect from any self respecting indie type - Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Blur, Oasis, Suede, The Smiths, Stone Roses, Manic's etc but there were also a few more random ones, if you remember any of these we would probably get on famously - Sugar, The House of Love, Kingmaker, The Frank and Walters and at last I managed to find a cd I had lost for 2 years!! by the band Gene, the album is called Olympian and it was the soundtrack to 1995 for me, the lead singer was a bit gay, the lyrics were great and it was all a bit depressing - what more could you want. If you have not heard this album I suggest getting on amazon and purchasing immediately, it stands the test of time!

The BBC are such a joke!!

Carol Thatcher has been banned from the BBc for making a racist comment off air on one of their shows, Don't get me wrong I agree that racist language is totally unacceptable but in the last couple of years high profile BBC presenters such as Chris Moyles, Jeremy Clarkson and Patrick Kielty have all used homophobic language on primetime shows and all have gone without any kind of disciplinary action.

Can someone tell me why they see one form of discrimination more important than another?

what a joke!

40 go mad in the countryside!

Yeah this weekend was my mate Clive's birthday in the countryside just outside Stoke on Trent and I have to say it was great fun!! We arrived on friday night and got settled…with food and a few bottles of booze but didn't have too much of a late night as we all knew how mash up saturday was going to be, So after waking and having breakfast and a lazy time a few of us headed to the pub which was a nice break from the madness. We got back to see the party house being decorated and people preparing their outfits. I was going as Amy Winehouse so the change took quite a while but it paid off big time as I looked suitably ridiculous/fabulous. Everyone had made a great effort and the night was so much fun, with performances that included Michael Jackson, Whitney House, Alexandra Burke and Beyonce, people were entertained and totally shitfaced.

Waking up on sunday was one of the biggest challenges my poor body has ever had to face, I have not been that hungover in many years. The journey back to London was a mission but we managed it, although walking out of Euston station the cold air hit me and I almost froze to death, Struggled home and immediately hid under the duvet and drifted in and out of conciousness for the rest of the day.

I kept waking up and at one point staggered to my front window to see a blanket of snow covering everything. It got worse as the night went on and by morning was really deep, I was supposed to be working in Kensington all day but there was no chance so I dragged myself to the shop to stock up on food and went back into hiding. Thank god for biscuits and dvds!

In other news - they gays are under fire yet again, firstly the case I wrote about last week, with the 2 children being placed with gay adoptive parents? well the roman catholic chruch is now facilitating the funding of the legal challenge and the Mail on Sunday has carried on with it's hate inciting journalism - Peter Hitchen's writes

"If I never again had to read or write a word about homosexuals, I would be very happy. I really don’t want to know what other people do in their bedrooms.
"But these days they really, really want us all to know. And, more important, they insist that we approve.
"No longer are we allowed to keep our thoughts to ourselves, while being polite and kind.We are forced to say that we think homosexuality is a good thing, that homosexual couples are equal in all ways to heterosexual married couples.
"Most emphatically, we are compelled to agree that homosexual couples are just as good at bringing up children as the children’s own grandparents. Better, in fact."
I really don't know how they get away with this kind of reporting, it is so offensive and biased, I know I should not be shocked as it is The Mail, I guess I am shocked that a newspaper has been allowed to get away with this for so long.
The pope has continued his fight to be named "gay rights champion of the year" by promoting a priest who blamed Hurricane Katrina on New Orlean's acceptance of gay people, he has been promoted to bishop. Along with the popes declaration in December last year that gay people are as much a threat to humanity as the destruction of the rainforest and lets face it equality must be just around the corner. I don't know where they find the time to make such statements what with all the paedophillia they are allegedly covering up.
So as we are all aware it snowed yesterday and London came to a complete standstill, can't wait to see how we cope with that little olympics competition thing. I have mentioned this before but I do think its ridiculous that the snow falls and people can't get into work but the following day when it melts to slippy, hard, black ice we are all expected to risk our bones and asses to get to work, it took ages this morning - I am not happy!
xx
