It time to put the rant's back in pippyrants!

The Catholics are at it again! When will they ever learn that they are wrong and I am in most cases right! The Roman Catholic Church in Scotland has launched a rather preposterous attack on the gays.

"There is an overwhelming body of evidence showing that same-sex relationships are inherently unstable and reduce the life expectancy of those involved," claimed church spokesman Peter Kearney.
Oh great! so not only am I going to hell but I am going to get there sooner than I thought. Ah well suppose it'll save me cash. I imagine vodka, lager and drugs are quite freely available.

Why have this statement been released? well the Daily Mail (basically mein kampf with better pictures) has picked up on the story of a mother whose kids have been adopted by a gay male couple after courts decided she was unfit to look after her kids herself. She has now kicked off saying that she was never told they would be placed with a gay couple and she could do a much better job herself, oh I forgot to mention she is a heroin addict. The paper has taken her side, yeah the Daily Mail strikes again, put the kids back with their junkie mother rather than 2 people that can provide a loving and secure environment, take the kids out of the birdcage and into trainspotting.

the author of this truly hateful article Amanda Platell goes on to say

"It appears that social services, despite all the evidence to the contrary, still believe that all relationships are equal when it comes to raising children," she wrote.
"Indeed, in this case they seem to have decided that a gay relationship is preferable to a couple of opposite sex.
"This is simply not true.
"They are not equal when it comes to the things children need most – commitment and stability.
"Yet is is regarded as heretical even to state the facts: which are that marriages last longer than cohabiting heterosexual relationships and they both last longer than gay relationships.
"Those are the cold, bare truths.
"It is too soon to know the statistics on same-sex marriages as there has not been enough time to assess the trends and many same sex couples enjoy enduring and truly fulfilling relationships.
"But if commitment and stability matter most to children’s happiness and success, the least suitable place for them to be raised is by a gay couple.
"That’s not homophobia, that’s not bigotry, that’s a fact – unpalatable as it might be to the Left consensus."
seriously! this woman is just vile! how dare she? I have not experienced such homophobia in the media for a long time, this goes beyond honest reporting, this is another attempt to make the stupid daily mail buying public that bit more stupid, I wonder how many tweed wearing, 4 wheel drive wagon driving lemmings have read her article and nodded whilst saying "here, here" - fuckin eeejits!!

Goodness me, How long has it been?? too long, that's how long.

So much has been happening I just have not had time to sit down and write about it all. Seriously work has turned into all kinds of crazy and has been stressing me out quite a bit and I aint the kind of guy who gets stressed out so it's all been a rather weird state of affairs. I have managed to have some fun along the way so if you are sitting comfortably I shall begin.

This last weekend I headed to the small market town of Tavistock for a mate's 30th birthday, it usually takes quite a lot to get me out of the London at the weekend but the promise of 5 rugby type boy's 30th birthdays was the reason I had been looking for to get country bound. It really is a beautiful part of the world and did me the world of good to get some fresh air in my riddled lungs. There were many funny aspects to the weekend - the first thing to understand about Tavistock is that it is tiny and up until very recently the local community relied quite heavily on one shop in particular to get all their worldy goods, that shop of course being Woolworths but alas the credit has munched and cruned it's way through that piece of consumer history and now the local's are wondering round with paper bags devoid of pick'n'mix! The impact has been so huge that several locals got together to express their feelings about the closure of Woolie's - this has accumulated 3!!! volumes of poetry published locally, yes you read that right 3 volumes of poetry about Woolworths closing down - sadly I can't remember any of these but needless to say I laughed a lot at this discovery.

The party was held on saturday night at Tavistock Rugby Club, it was fancy dress and thanks to one of the charity shops in Tavistock I managed to get the Officer and a gentleman style jacket and hat….for £4!!! bring on the fake moustache and I was sorted. The party was a good laugh with a performance from The Great Shakes and a couple of other bands. I was hoping that rubgy players would live up to their drunken reputation which mainly consists of stripping off and being far too friendly with each other. I was not disappointed but then who would be with a naked rugby player conga!

In other news we had that lil thing - the presidential inauguation, I managed to miss it due to being on a train from Oxford to London but thanks to BBC iplayer I saw Obama's amazing speech and was very moved, not as moved as I was when I saw the size of Aretha Franklin, it's hard to say which was more groundbreaking! Seriously though what a tremendous day and time for us all to be a part of. I went to a teachers conference last week and speaking to a few of them it was clear that Barack becoming president is going to make their teaching of history in general a lot more interesting.

Well Madonna has announced that she will be starting up her Sticky and Sweet tour again in the summer, visiting loads of places that she didn't make it to last year. She is rumoured to be playing the o2 arena for a few nights, I have to say I am doubting whether to bother - if the tickets are as expensive as they were last time which I imagine they will be what witrh her being a single parent now, I just am not sure I can justify paying again to see a show that I didn't enjoy that much in the first place. The jury is out. If the dates are right then it is also highly likely that she will do Glastonbury which I am probably going to miss again this year due to lack of organisation on my part - boo!

Last night I went to a concert that surpassed Madonna's last effort and managed to do so without any of the stage tricks, dancers or special effects, I went to see the icon, the legend, the incomparable Miss Grace Jones at the Camden Roundhouse. I have loved her since seeing her in the James Bond film "View to a Kill" - she played a fiesty, sexy, crazy villain and I was in a trance looking at this strange creature before me. The next time I saw her on TV was when she performed her hit single (and one of my all time faves) "Slave to the Rhythm" on Wogan, she was wrapped from head to foot in a black chiffon body stocking with scarves blowing in every direction as she slowly vogued on the stage. Last night I finally saw her in the flesh and boy was it worth the wait! She is 60 years old, she changed outfit and hat between every song whilst still talking to the crowd, she pole danced and for slave to the rhythm she spun a neon hula hoop around her waist without stopping for 5 minutes and even managed to introduce her entire band as well. I have rarely been in awe so much. Shge is truly one of a kind and the world is a brighter and better place with her in it! Amazing Grace!

Well that's it for now, Good to be back and let's not leave it so long next time

Well it feels like a brutally long time since my last blog so this is going to be a hefty one!

Things took a rather unexpected turn last week, I ended up flying to New York for a few days with Oliver! Yes I was barely back at work long enough to say "pass the lube" before I was whisked off to NYC. I have to say it was an amazing trip!! Possibly even better than the last time, mainly due to the fact that we had done all the sightseeing last year so this time we could spend our time more leisurely. I was very keen to head to the vintage clothing shops on the lower east side and we hit the hard and fast. I managed to find 2 items of clothing that have seemingly been impossible to find for years - the perfect black leather jacket and a retro denim fitted jacket. I also hit the holy grail of books by finding "Oprah's Big Book of Happiness" which I believe will change my life, much in the same way the jackets will.

We also managed to squeeze in a fair amount of drinking at the Stonewall Inn, Duplex, Dtox, G Lounge and the go go boy heavcen that is Splash bar, although one night I was a little bit intoxicated and staggered slightly on my way in and they refused me entry, bitches! god forbid that anyone should be drunk on a friday night.

We didn't drink every night, one night we were pretty exhausted from all the walking so we headed to the cinema in Union Square to see the rather fabulous film "Twilight" starring the delicious Rob Pattinson. It is such a good film and I could easily watch it again, the leading couple brim with sexual chemistry and the story is gripping and beautiful.

On our last day it was forecast to snow and boy did it! New York took on a whole new light so we headed up to Central Park and got a horse drawn carriage in the snow, really stunning and quite regal really, our last night was spent at the Broadhurst Theatre watching Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths in "Equus" we were very lucky to catch it as it closes next month, the play is amazingly intense and fascinating and even though there was a big part of us that had just gone to see Harry Potters wand, the actual scene where Radcliffe strips is pretty traumatic so our focus was pulled elsewhere, you can't letch over a young man's penis when he is blinding 6 horses.

So a massive thankyou to Oliver for an amazing trip, I am back at work now and have hit the ground running with quite a lot of travelling and training over the next few weeks but there is always time for the blog!

Onto the world of showbiz, well it has been a long time coming but finally Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil are getting divorced due to her recent adultery in St Lucia with a very hot guy who has far better prospects than the prison dweller! check out the new guy!

This is probably one of my favourite times of year as awards season officially began this week with the Golden Globe awards which saw one of my fave actresses Kate Winslet winning 2!!! awards! for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.

Sadly Sean Penn lost out on the Best Actor award to Mickey Rourke but maybe his luck will turn come Oscar time.

The Brit Award Nominations are announced next week, I expect Keane and Kings of Leon to feature heavily and with U2 performing and Pet Shop Boys getting the outstanding contribution award it should be a great night. The Oscar nominations are announced on the 22nd January andI am just hoping that "Milk" features heavily.

A belated happy new year to you! this is my 400th blog post!!!!

My xmas was rather lovely, a very family based affair with far too much good food and drink. Got some lovely presents and still managed to find time to watch loads of crap tv (have now worked out why i dont watch tv) and see the majority of friends.

New Years Eve was much fun, everyone seemed to be doing their own thing so I got together with dan, michael and pete and we headed to the joyful White Swan pub in East London and danced the night away. Twas great fun but they seemed to be playing the tracks on a loop and if i hear Girls Aloud's Promises ever again it will be way too soon.

So 2009 is upon us and I usually get quite refective at this time of year. Last year was good generally, it started off in a really sucky way but that all soon resolved itself and led to better times, meeting a lovely guy and even though it didn't work out, a good friendship has developed which is always important. My 1st trip to America was amazing and the last few months have seen my career going really well.

I start the year with the hope of more promising career opportunities, more fun times, a possible house move and, as always the hope of meeting someone special this year. If i know one thing for sure it's that I deserve some happiness and love this year.
