Church Vs State

So Islington marriage registrar Lillian Ladele won her employment tribunal against Islington Council. Basically Lillian has refused to perform same sex civil partnerships ever since they were introduced stating that it was against her christian faith. This is a very disturbing ruling and could potentially lead to people with strong religious convictions being able to opt out of provision of services for gays, lesbians and bisexuals. Also I hate to be picky but if this woman has such religious convictions then she really should not be performing Civil Union's between men and women as these are not blessed by the church, only the state. She is working for the state, if she does not like it she could find a more suitable position. Islington Council are appealing the decision. The Bible should not go above and beyond English Law!
