Apologies for the lack of blogging but I was away in Bristol at the big gay conference.

Last week was very interesting, I don't kiss and tell on this blog but let's just say I had a rather marvellous evening and have been grinning like a cheshire cat for the last few days.

I have just spent the weekend in hiding in my house watching endless episodes of "Will and Grace" - after going cold turkey for a while it really is classic comedy!! Now i must socialise as I have way too many out downs whirring round my head.

So Britney is back apparently - winning 3 awards at this weekends MTV Video Music Award's, I must admit she did look rather fab!



Russell Brand was hosting the show so you would think that the organisers would have been prepared for his rather innuendo laden and rather controversial humour - it sounds to me like he nailed it but the stupid American's are now up in arms about him slagging off George Bush.



This line in particular made me chortle this morning -

He began his opening monologue by saying: 'Please, America, elect Barack Obama. On behalf of the world. Some people, I think they're called racists, say America is not ready for a black president.


'But I know America to be a forward-thinking country because otherwise why would you have let that retard and cowboy fella be president for eight years?'


He added: 'We thought it was nice of you to let him have a go, because in England he wouldn't be trusted with a pair of scissors"

Genius!

Well it's finally here!! Madonna week! Yes on thursday night I am off to Wembley Stadium to see our gracious leader in all her sticky and sweet glory! She played Rome this weekend and dedicated "Like A Virgin" to the Pope - bless her!

and it looks like the hitman I hired to get rid of the musical durge that is Oasis has started work in grand style, bravo, honey, bravo!!

It's always a wonder that homophobic hate crime never makes the news - on 28th August a 22 year old gay man was attacked by a gang of Asian youths, near one of my local gay bars - The George and Dragon in East London. In a completely unmotivated attack, youths snatched a bottle of wine he was carrying, smashed it and used the broken glass to stab him in the torso, while 2 others attacked him with knives. He was stabbed a total of 8 times. He is in a critical but stable condition.

Why was this not reported more widely? I am sure there are lots of crimes that don't make it into the press but it does seem that homophobic attacks are on the rise and the gay community and the police need to be working together to combat this. The gay community (if there is such a thing) need to be made aware that these attacks are happening, maybe the national media should at least pretend they give a shit?
